Surroundings Versilia Versilia is a famous tourist seaside area, whose most popular city centre is Viareggio. It is a coastal area extended to Torre del Lago (nearing of Viareggio), Viareggio, Lido di Camaiore, Marina di Pietrasanta (near Pietrasanta) and Forte dei Marmi. In the first years of 1900, Versilia was well known by the famous poet Gabriele D'Annunzio who had built a big villa nearby Pietrasanta. The poet spent here the last years of his life and composed the most famous verses of “Alcyone” and wrote "Francesca da Rimini".
